Senegal and Gambia
After a week in Portugal, we head to West Africa, our first trip. We once actually signed up for a tour including Mali, Burkina Faso and Togo. It was cancelled at the recommendation of the British foreign service.
We are going to Senegal and Gambia because they are safe, stable countries. Well, except during elections when the electorate is unhappy that an 80 year old leader is running for a third term, despite a provision allowing only two terms. That would be Senegal. There was an election in February and the current leader did not get 50%, which he needed to avoid a run-off. So the run-off is scheduled for the day we arrive. Nice.
We will register with the State Department and get their Iphone app.
